FS2002 Delta Air Lines 757-200 1984 Full Pack V1.0!!
======================================
Now for the first time available for FS2002!!

ALOHA SIMMERS!!!

Welcome to my 11th aircraft project for FS2002!!

As you noticed, this aircraft is HUGE!! That's because EVERYTHING is included!!! This aircraft is a repaint of my Boeing Demonstrator 757, so that should give you a clue as to how much detail is in this aircraft!

You'll find:

A partial virtual cockpit (description below)
An instrument panel
A fully realistic 757 sound package
A new flight dynamics engine
and the aircraft, which has alot of improvements itself.

I STRONGLY URGE YOU TO READ THIS README IN FULL, IT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS!!!

WHAT MADE THIS AIRCRAFT A REALITY?

I must say that I was completely blown away by the success of my 9th aircraft project, B7572FP.zip. I decided that I should probably go back and include all the new features of the Boeing Demonstrator into most of my older aircraft. After all, you guys deserve to have the best! After completing the National 757, I decided that the plane that needed the most help BY FAR was my 1984 Delta 757. That aircraft really looked sad when compared with my newer aircraft, and so I set out on yet another labor of love, to bring my favorite Delta 757 back to life.

First I took a long look at the old texures and decided thay wouldn't do, and I started all over again from scratch. Every texture was re-done, top to bottom, with new features (some not even found in the Demonstrator) being added all the way. Needless to say, this aircraft is beautiful! It really is! You really need to load it up and fly it for a couple of hours, I guarantee that you'll fall in love with it, and I speak from experience! :D

I worked very long and hard on this aircraft to include as much detail as I could, right down to the smallest seam in the plane. I even detailed the nose gear doors with the "604" markings, and even did all pixelwork on the black nose by hand. Needless to say, I think it all paid off, this aircraft is excellent and I hope that you enjoy it!

That said, here is a description of each part of the aircraft, and some answers to questions you may have!

First, the aircraft itself:

THE AIRCRAFT ITSELF:

Wing and metal surfaces:

As with all my new aircraft, all bare metal textures have been detailed to the maximum. The most noticalbe difference on this aircraft that you'll see is the new, semi-reflective bare metal textures on the belly of the plane. In the old version, the belly of the plane was quite dull. Well, in 1984, it wasn't dull, it was polished up and new, fresh from Boeing, and this is how I've made it look. What do I mean by semi-reflective? I mean that the textures look polished up and reflect sunlight quite well!

About the livery:

Ahhh....the livery. One of Delta's best in my opinion. I created these textures by referencing (heavily) photographs of the real airplane, in all its variations. You know there's two variations of the 1984 colorscheme? Made it quite interesting to try and make these textures accurate. ;)

All textures on this airplane have been completely re-done. The only thing that the livery actually has in common with the old version is the width of the cheatline on the windows...that's it. I reshaped the nose textures on the aircraft, and changed their color a bit. I changed the tail as well, I notice in the old version the delta widget was bigger on one side than the other. I got rid of that, now it looks more accurate. The widgets on the engines were off center in the old version, in this version I did alot of calculating to place them dead-center on the nacelle, also like the real aircraft. In the bare metal textures, I manually placed reflections on all of the "seams" in the fuselage and on cargo doors. In the old version all seams were a solid color, now they look much more realistic. There's many, many more improvements, but I'll let you find them for yourself!

Night lighting:

THIS is probably the BEST improvement from the old version. In the old aircraft, there was almost no detail in the night textures at all. This new aircraft completely thwos that out the window. You will literally be blown away by the excellent new night lighting I've added to this plane. It has the soft blue glow that reflects off the belly of the plane...it's just fantastic, you need to see this plane at night. I reduced the size of the landing light cone so that the light would reflect rather than glare off of the plane. It looks very nice, especially where it hits the reflective bare metal! Oh, and I got rid of that ugly magenta tail lighting, it's now white, like in the real plane, and has been completely re-worked...like everything else. Again, you should definitely see the plane at night!

You might have a complaint about the nose gear lights though. Sorry, I cant add one of those big, beautiful glowing lights to the nose gear. Why? Well, for some reason, when I retract the gear, that light stays on, floating beneath the plane! So, I just didnt include it. Simple as that.

FLIGHT DYNAMICS:

The flight dynamics of this plane are the same used in FLTDYN3.zip. However, I've made a few improvements. I've lowered the rudder effect on roll yet again. Even though in fltdyn3 I cut the effect in half, it was still too sensitive. In this aircraft, your rudder will FINALLY steer your aircraft properly!

INSTRUMENT PANEL:

It may not be 100% accurate, but in my opinion it's the best 757 panel available for FS2002. It's got everything you need right at your fingertips, there's not alot of opening extra windows. That means that you can focus more on flying than waiting on FS to load something else. I've made a big improvement to this panel, by the way! If you've downloaded my other full packs, you most likely have seen the giant clock included with those panels. Although I'm no expert at building panels, I did manage to adjust the size of the clock, and now it's the correct size! The panel itself was greated by Tom Dennis, I did all the the virtual cockpit views and the new clock as well. :)

PARTIAL VIRTUAL COCKPIT:

You may be wondering what the heck a partial virtual cockpit is! Basically, it's a virtual cockpit that you can't see in virtual cockpit view. Sound confusing? Here's an explanation:

In cockpit view, press shift and then a numpad key to look left, right, etc. You'll find panel bitmaps that show the interior of the 757 cockpit, these are actual photographs of the real thing! Pretty neat huh? The only problem is that I can't seem to get these bitmaps to show in virtual cockpit view, until I learn how, this will have to do, but I dont think you'll complain. :) So that's why this is a partial virtual cockpit, you can only see it from cokcpit view, NOT virtual cockpit view. Sorry. :(

SOUND PACKAGE:

This is an EXCELLENT Boeing 757/767 sound package for FS2002. It was created as a collaborative effort between Aaron R. Swindle and myself. These sounds were recorded from an actual Boeing 757 in flight, and I'm certain that this is the most accurate, realistic 757 sound package yet available for FS2002!! But I'll let you be the judge, load up this aircraft and listen for yourself.

NOTE:

You may sometimes hear a hissing noise or distortion in sound with this soundpack. The reason is that there is a bug in the FS2002 sound engine that deforms sound sometimes. If you are flying and suddenly you get a hissing noise, or the sound changes into something weird, hit the "Q" key to turn sound off, then hit it again. It should put your sound back to normal. If it doesnt, reselect the aircraft. Sorry, I can't fix this problem.

There you have it! I really, really hope that you enjoy this plane and all that it has to offer.

I WELCOME OTHER PEOPLE TO REPAINT THIS AIRCRAFT!

Anyone and everyone can repaint this plane if they want, just please provide me some credit for the original. I worked real hard on this, it'd be very wrong to take the credit for that work. See LEGAL NOTICE below.

OK, now that you know what you have, how about some installation instructions!

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

It's easy, just follow these instructions:

Open Gauges.zip and extract into your MAIN FS2002 GAUGES folder.

Extract all other files into your FS2002/Aircraft directory, all files will go where they need to go. Make sure you have "Use folder names" checked in the Winzip dialog box.

That's it! Now, go into FS2002, find your aircraft, and have fun!
